Gerdau SA is the largest Brazilian steel producer and one of the main suppliers of long steel in the Americas and specialty steel in the world. In Brazil, it also produces flat steel, in addition to iron ore for its own consumption. The company is present in 10 countries and has more than 30 thousand direct and indirect employees in all its operations.

The Logmax platform was implemented to optimize the management of multimodal freight at the Gerdau steel plant located in the city of Ouro Branco-MG. Before the implementation of the system, the freight quotation and management processes were carried out manually by the logistics team, using excel spreadsheets, e-mails and phone calls. It was not possible to have visibility of the transport operation in real time and all storage reports for third-party cargo terminals were made in excel spreadsheets (with potential compliance risks). There were complaints from customers due to late deliveries and the logistics team did not have performance reports at their disposal to assess the contracted carriers.

After implementation, the Logmax platform was responsible for managing the transportation of 300 thousand tons / month, with the contracting of road, rail and sea freight (cabotage).

The Logmax platform is used, as explained by the logistics analyst, Thaina Ferreira, for managing the delivery of customer orders, managing inventories in distribution centers and monitoring costs and performance of the operation. "By working with Logmax, we gain automation and visibility of the entire multimodal logistics process of the company". Thaina also explains that with the Logmax system, spreadsheets and manual controls have been replaced by cloud data.

Another gain provided by the Logmax platform is related to real-time monitoring, due to the greater amount of information available, allowing for better monitoring of deadlines. “Currently, our performance of on-time deliveries is around 93%, in the past these rates were 80%”, informs Thaina Ferreira.
